Community guidelines

Be specific, be kind, bring receipts. Three rules carry most of the weight.

1. Disclose affiliations

If you work on a tool, invested in it, or get paid to talk about it, say so in the review itself. You are welcome to participate. You are not welcome to pretend to be a neutral user.

2. No astroturfing

One account per person, one vote per tool. Coordinated voting, review swaps, and incentivized reviews all get removed, and the tool that benefited gets delisted. We detect vote rings automatically and a human reviews every case.

3. Criticism is welcome, contempt is not

Harsh reviews are the point of this site. A tool that wasted your week deserves to be described accurately. Attacking the people who built it, rather than the thing they built, is where we draw the line.

What makes a useful review

• What you used it for, and for how long.
• The specific thing it did well, and the specific thing it did not.
• Numbers where you have them: cost, latency, how often it failed.
• What you compared it against.

Moderation

Reports go into a queue sorted by severity and age. Every item gets a human decision, and every decision is written to an audit log. Removal is reserved for guideline violations, never for being unflattering.
